Sand Between the Toes: MCRC Trip A Success

Ask Morgantown Care and Rehab residents Linda Gray and Morene “Dimple” Daugherty what last week was like and expect to listen for a while. That’s because they were chosen from the local facility to be part of a special trip to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina September 24-27.

“When you look out on that ocean for the first time it’ll bring tears to your eyes. That’s just one little piece of God’s great creation,” said Daugherty Tuesday morning as she and Gray recalled trip highlights.

2nd District VFD Annual Fundraiser

The 2nd District Volunteer Fire Department held their annual fund raiser on Saturday.  Activities started around 10:00am and concluded with Bruce White auctioning cakes, pies, pictures, mums, and a variety of items.

Jody Forgy meets Darryl Strawberry

While traveling last week, Morgantown resident Jody Forgy got the opportunity to meet  former Major League Baseball great Darryl Strawberry at Clarendon Church in Arlington, Virginia.  Strawberry, along with wife Tracy, are actively involved in Christian  ministry.  It's stated mission is "Restoring lives and Relationships through the power of God and the process of change.

Jelly Roll 1600 Race Quilt Class

Jelly Roll 1600 Race Quilt Class will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at 10 am at the Butler County Extension Office.

Materials List:
•    1 Jelly Roll (40 pieces) or  40 2 ½” x 42-44” fabric strips if you wish to cut from your stash
•    Sewing Machine
•    Thread
•    Basic Sewing Supplies such as straight pins, pincushion, needles, scissors, marking pencil or pen; seam ripper, etc.
•    Iron, if available, as there is a lot of pressing of seams
•    Towel in lieu of ironing board, if you bring an iron.

Green River DAR Presents BC History to DAR Library

Christine Coleman and granddaughter, Shalyn Coleman were in Washington D.C., for the National Book Festival.  They stopped by the DAR Library and presented a copy of the new Butler County History Book to the library, from the Green River Chapter NSDAR.
