Miss Kentucky 2012, Jessica Casebolt, a 20-year-old Georgetown College student, visited Morgantown Elementary and Butler County Middle School on Friday morning.

“I travel around the Commonwealth of Kentucky teaching and promoting healthy eating and living habits to our students while encouraging Kentuckians to purchase locally grown, manufactured, and produced goods,” said Casebolt.

Jennings places at Governor's Cup Awards

Jackson Jennings recently placed ninth at state in the Governor's Cup Awards.  He received his award from Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear.  Jackson is the son of Gary and Suzette Jennings.  He is the grandson of Weymouth and Edie Martin, and Faith and the late R.L. Jennings.

The Iditarod: Through a Teacher's Eyes

At first glance, Ann Bartholomew, a petite woman, mom and grandmother of three, doesn’t seem like the sort you would find in Alaska at a race involving dog sleds and mushers, but that’s just where you would have found her in early March of this year.  On Sunday evening, March 24th, she gave a presentation about the race at First Baptist church in Morgantown.  Ann is the director of three hand bell choirs at the church.

            2010, the total number of animal abuse cases in Kentucky was 15

Walnut Grove School Packed With Students

The newly reconstructed Walnut Grove School, set off the road on Eden Stretch, was initiated with teachers and pupils Friday, March 21, 2013.
 
Owners Gene and Peggy Boaz invited Butler County’s first children’s author, Linda J. Hawkins to the school to share with Morgantown Elementary School teacher, Mrs. Diana Flener, and her helper, Jana Rose, along with their 21 first grade students. Also in attendance were three home schooled students accompanied by Randy and Delia Burns.

4-H Camping Season Nears

Now is the time for young people and their parents to begin making plans for an annual summer ritual, 4-H Camp.

    4-H camps are open to all Kentucky youth between the ages of 9 and 14. At 4-H Camp, young people learn independence and responsibility, have a lot of fun and make new friends.
