Young Farmer Association New

On Tuesday, March 4th, the newly re-instated chapter of the Butler County Young Farmer Association met for the purpose of electing officers for 2013.  Following a potluck meal, Kent Moore of Crop Production Services & Loveland Products gave an excellent and informative presentation about plant health and nutrition as it pertains to row crops in our area.  Following the presentation and a question and answer session, Chapter Advisor Lance Lockhart called for the business of nominating and electing an officer team to begin.  Following the nomination and voting process, the following officers were installed:

 Chapter President: Ryan Daugherty

Vice President:       Brandon Givens

Treasurer:            Tracy Coleman

Secretary:               Robert Taylor

Reporter:                Garret Hampton

The Butler County Chapter of the Young Farmer Association will suspend general meetings until the late fall for the busy season of cropping and haying that the majority of members are involved in, along with many also having off-farm employment to work their farms around as well.  The chapter invites all people involved in farming on ANY scale to come and be a member of this great organization.  There is no age limit, the only age restriction in place is that you must be 40 or younger to be an active officer in the organization.  Anyone over this age may still compete in all competitions and take advantage of the many opportunities that the Young Farmer Association has to offer.  Many successful farmers in our County are products of the Young Farmer Association, and as they can tell you, Young Farmer’s has allowed them an opportunity to meet people both State and Nationwide, to share ideas and practices, and to broaden their knowledge of farming in general.  If you are interested in joining us, or simply want to know more about the opportunities that the Young Farmer Association offers, feel free to contact either Lance Lockhart  [email protected] or Ryan Daugherty at [email protected] .  We would be excited to have you join our team and see where the Kentucky/Butler County Young Farmer Association leads us to together!
