Chaney competing at next level

MOUNT CARMEL, Ill. - Butler County High School graduate Hannah Chaney is competing at the next level. Chaney is a 5-7 freshman catcher for the Wabash Valley College softball team. 

Currently, Chaney is batting .333 for her junior college softball squad. The former Butler County standout has appeared in 12 games in the 2021 junior college softball season. As a freshman, Chaney has collected 10 hits and four RBIs in 30 at-bats. 

Thriving defensively, Chaney's fielding percentage is 1.000. A native of Morgantown, Chaney has recorded 46 putouts. 

Chaney was a longtime leader for Butler County, ranking among the state's top high school softball players during her senior campaign. 

Wabash Valley is 6-11 through its first 17 games in the 2021 junior college softball season. The Warriors have regular season games remaining versus Southeastern Illinois College, Rend Lake College, Lincoln Trail College, Highland Community College (Illinois), Lake Land College, Shawnee Community College, Southwestern Illinois College, Kaskaskia College and Frontier Community College.
