MORGANTOWN — Butler County is scheduled to visit Breckinridge County for its third game in the 2022 high school football season on Friday, Sept. 2.

The Bears are 2-0. Butler County has notched back-to-back wins over Russellville and Edmonson County. 

The Bears pulled away to beat visiting Russellville 34-13 in a season opener on Thursday, Aug. 18. 

Remaining in the win column eight days later, Butler County knocked off Edmonson County 35-6 in Brownsville on Friday, Aug. 26. 

MORGANTOWN — Butler County fell behind early and couldn't battle back as Ohio County won 3-0 in a high school volleyball match on Tuesday, Aug. 30. 

Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 1-9.

Ohio County improved to 9-3 after notching the win. 

Third Region rivals, Butler County and Ohio County are non-district foes. 

Ohio County started strong, topping Butler County 25-6 in the opening game of the non-district match. 

Continuing to control the non-district match, Ohio County beat Butler County 25-8 in the second game.

MORGANTOWN — Butler County senior fullback/linebacker Colton Dunnells has been tabbed a Class 2A, District 2 Player to Watch. 

The Cats' Pause 2022 Kentucky Football Yearbook recognized Dunnells and other players from Class 2A, District 2.

Dunnells led Butler County as a junior in 2021, rushing 135 times for 649 yards and 13 touchdowns. 

Contributing defensively, Dunnells recorded 15 tackles during the 2021 high school football season. 

LEITCHFIELD — Visiting Butler County was limited offensively as Grayson County pulled away to win 3-0 in a 12th District volleyball match on Thursday, Aug. 25.

Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the 12th District.

Grayson County improved to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in the 12th District after notching the win. 

Starting strong, Grayson County won the opening game of the 12th District volleyball match 25-6. 

Remaining in control, Grayson County beat Butler County 25-7 in the second game.

BROWNSVILLE — Visiting Butler County pulled away to defeat Edmonson County 35-6 in a high school football game on Friday, Aug. 26. 

After notching the win, Butler County moved to 2-0.

Edmonson County dropped to 0-2 following the loss. 

Butler County scored first and never trailed. The Bears moved ahead early and forced Edmonson County to play from behind throughout the high school football game.
