Bears upend Edmonson County, 35-6

BROWNSVILLE — Visiting Butler County pulled away to defeat Edmonson County 35-6 in a high school football game on Friday, Aug. 26. 

After notching the win, Butler County moved to 2-0.

Edmonson County dropped to 0-2 following the loss. 

Butler County scored first and never trailed. The Bears moved ahead early and forced Edmonson County to play from behind throughout the high school football game.

After edging Edmonson County 8-6 in the opening quarter, Butler County stretched its lead during the second period. Butler County led 20-6 at halftime and finished strong, extending its lead in the final quarter. 

The Bears thrived on the ground in the victory, rushing 42 times for 393 yards and five touchdowns.

Colton Dunnells led Butler County to the win, rushing 20 times for 143 yards and two touchdowns. 

Ranking second in rushing for the Bears, Brody Hunt rushed nine times for 136 yards and two touchdowns. 

Aiding Butler County's offensive attack, Keagen Grubb rushed seven times for 75 yards. 

Contributing on the ground for the Bears, Luke Laughing added a 20-yard rushing touchdown.

Devin Poston paced Butler County defensively, recording 11 tackles, two tackles for losses and one sack.

Finishing one stop behind Poston, Carson Miller contributed 10 tackles for the Bears. 

Delivering both offensively and defensively for Butler County, Hunt recorded an interception. 

The Bears are scheduled to visit Breckinridge County on Friday, Sept. 2. Kickoff for the Butler County-Breckinridge County football game is set for 7 p.m. in Harned.
