Bears beat McLean County to remain unbeaten

MORGANTOWN — Butler County scored first and never trailed on the way to beating visiting McLean County 27-12 in a Class 2A, District 2 game on Friday, Sept. 23. 

The Bears are 5-0 for the first time since the 2011 high school football season.

After notching the win, Butler County moved to 5-0 overall and opened 1-0 in Class 2A, District 2.

BCHS Golf competes at region; Jonah Swift qualifies for state

The BCHS Boys Golf team traveled to Madisonville Country Club on Monday, September 19th for the 2nd Region KHSAA regional tournament. It was a long day that would test the mental toughness of all golfers there. The team left Morgantown at 6:30 a.m. and teed off at 8:20 a.m..

BARREN RIVER LAKE — The Butler County High School bass fishing team opened the 2022-23 season in a tournament on Barren River Lake on Saturday, Sept. 10, excelling in the event.

The leaders in the tournament were as follows: 

1st place-Jayden Jenkins and Duncan Tyree;

2nd place-Avery Gibbs and Ty Griffin;

3rd place-Clay Vincent and Blake Tomes.

Butler County Archery parent meeting set for Sept. 26

MORGANTOWN — The Butler County Archery program will hold a parent meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26. 

 

Parents of Butler County High School, Butler County Middle School, Morgantown Elementary and North Butler Elementary student-athletes that are interested in participating in archery are urged to attend the meeting, which will be held in the Butler County High School Commons Area.

Hunt leads 2A in interceptions

MORGANTOWN — Butler County senior defensive back/running back Brody Hunt leads Class 2A in interceptions. 

Through the Bears' first four games in the 2022 high school football season, Hunt has recorded a state-leading five interceptions. 

A breakdown of where the Bears rank among Class 2A teams from throughout the state follows. 

Brody Hunt is ranked 12th in individual rushing. 

Colton Dunnells is ranked 15th in individual rushing.
