HS FOOTBALL: Bears to visit Edmonson County for second game

MORGANTOWN — Butler County is set to visit Edmonson County for its second game in the 2022 high school football season on Friday, Aug. 26.

The Bears, under the direction of Coach Brandon Embry, pulled away to beat 2021 Class 1A Runner-up Russellville 34-13 in a season opener on Thursday, Aug. 18.

Colton Dunnells led a balanced Butler County offensive attack in the season opener, rushing 18 times for 118 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively for Butler County in the season opener, Brody Hunt recorded two interceptions.

Grayson County dealt Edmonson County a loss in another season opener, pulling away to defeat the Wildcats 33-12 on Friday, Aug. 19.

Edmonson County was limited offensively throughout its season opener.

The Bears and Wildcats did not meet during the 2021 high school football season.

Butler County has regular season games remaining versus Edmonson County, Grayson County, Breckinridge County, McLean County, Hancock County, Owensboro Catholic, Todd County Central, Clinton County and Ohio County.

Kickoff for the Butler County-Edmonson County football game is slated for 7 p.m. in Brownsville.
