Lady Bears fall short in OT

MORGANTOWN - Host Butler County fell behind and couldn't battle back as rival Edmonson County pulled away to win 56-47 in overtime in a 12th District girls' basketball game on Friday. 

Edmonson County overcame shooting 27.9 percent (17-of-61) from the field to notch the win. The Lady Cats managed to shoot 72 percent (18-of-25) from the free throw line.

Lauren Ballance (15 points), Emma Rose Vincent (12 points, 12 rebounds), Katie Lindsey (11 points) and Macie McCombs (11 points) combined to lead the Lady Cats to the victory in the extra period.

Amy Gill, Butler County High School golf coach, is looking forward to the next few years of golfing success.  Gill and coach Kenny Swift have two fifth graders and two sixth graders who practice with the young team.

MORGANTOWN - Butler County fell short of landing in the win column as visiting Hancock County prevailed 58-50 in a girls' high school basketball season opener on Monday night.

The Bears Classic Archery event took place over the weekend and hosted by the Butler County Archery Program was a two day non-stop tournament at the local extension office.

BCHS Volleyball Banquet

Monday, November 11th, the BCHS Volleyball team had their 2019 banquet.  The coaches talked about highlights of the year and recognized players for team and individual achievements.  The Junior Varsity team ended the season with a 12-4 record.

BC Archery recognition and season kick-off

Archery has been very active in the Butler County School System for the last five years, and this season promises to be another great one.  Practice are held at the Butler County Extension office.

Record Setting Season for BCHS Volleyball

On Monday night the BCHS Lady Bears volleyball season came to an end, dropping their match vs Whitesville Trinity 1 set to 3.  The Lady Bears got off to a good start winning the first set with a score of 26-24.  The teams played close throughout that set with Butler edging out at the end.

Prep Football: Bears drop game to Russell County Lakers

In their first meeting on record and following a 100+ mile journey, the Russell County Lakers handed the Butler County Bears a 50-14 loss on Friday night in Morgantown.
