BC Trap Team 2nd Place in the State

The Butler County High School Trap Team ended their spring season in  an impressive 2nd place in the state. What’s more, only one target separated them from the state champions with first place receiving a score of 491/500 and the Bears in second with a score of 490/500. Other notable awards for the day were earned including Mason Johnson becoming the Kentucky High School State Champion! He won high over all and was the highest male scorer with a perfect score!

The Bears have had an outstanding season, winning their conference with Mason Johnson, Blake Deweese, Dalton Hale and Jackson Kimbler finishing in the top ten in the conference, for the season. Mason Johnson was only a half point away from finishing first place in the conference.

Members of the trap team broke many personal and collective records throughout the  season. 

 

The 2024 BCHS Trap Team includes  Grant Jones, Luke Rowland, Carson Cardwell, Blake Deweese, Jacob Portman, Brennan Smith, Silas Ward, Will Jared, Hunter Glenn, Will Bryant, Graysen Henderson, Jackson Kimbler, Chandler Raymer, Mason Johnson, Dalton Hale and Emma Johnson. 


Head coach is  Amber Deweese, with assistant coaches Jonathan Deweese, John Ross Webster and Terry Johnson.  

 

Head Coach Amber Deweese said, “we are very proud all these boys have accomplished. They have put in a lot of hard work and practice to fine tune their shooting skills.  They have pushed themselves each week to do better and it paid off! We will be back shooting again in the fall and we encourage the public to come and watch and support these kids. Anyone that is in 6-12th grade that might be interested in shooting can contact me for more information!”


“To just say ‘I’m proud’ of our kiddos today, is probably biggest understatement I’ve made this year,” added Assistant Coach John Ross Webster.
