Butler County receives three votes in state poll

MORGANTOWN - Butler County received three votes in the latest Associated Press Kentucky Boys' Basketball Poll, which was released on Monday. 
One of the top boys' basketball teams in the 3rd Region, Butler County was 9-1 through its first 10 games in the 2019-20 season. The Bears boasted the 9-1 record at the time the poll was released. 

Bears edge Metcalfe County, fall to Breckinridge County

MORGANTOWN - The Butler County boys' basketball team split its first two games in the new year, edging Metcalfe County before falling to Breckinridge County. 



BOYS' H.S. BASKETBALL: Bears reel off three wins in Classic, move to 8-0

MORGANTOWN - Butler County reeled off three wins in the Hebrews 12 Coffee Christmas Classic to move to 8-0 in the 2019-20 boys' high school basketball season.

MORGANTOWN - Butler County is set to host a holiday event. The Hebrews 12 Coffee Christmas Classic is slated for Friday-Saturday at Butler County High School.


Butler County Middle School Archers win again

BCMS Head Coach Wes Jones and Assistant Coach Jesse Hudson were rewarded with another first-place finish in the Middle School Division at the Russellville Tournament on Saturday. The middle school team scored 3209 points, not their best, but good enough to win. The coaches had a very long day with over twenty teams competing.

Bears knock off Apollo, 64-51

OWENSBORO - Parker Rice delivered a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead Butler County over host Apollo 64-51 in a boys' high school basketball game on Monday night. 

With the win, Butler County moved to 4-0.

Apollo dropped to 0-6 with the loss. 

Butler County shot 48.8 percent (21-of-43) from the field. The Bears were 5-of-17 (29.4 percent) from 3-point range. 

Butler County shot 73.9 percent (17-of-23) from the free throw line. 


Lady Bears top Todd County Central, 67-45

MORGANTOWN - Butler County remained in the win on Monday, upending host Todd County Central 62-47  a girls' high school basketball team.

Foes from neighboring regions, Butler County and Todd County Central met for an early-season high school hoops matchup.

Productive Butler County claimed its second straight victory.

With the win, Butler County improved to 2-4.

Todd County Central stumbled to 1-4 with the loss. 


Lady Bears top Whitesville Trinity, 75-59

MORGANTOWN - Butler County landed in the win column for the first time in the 2019-20 girls' high school basketball season on Friday, topping visiting Whitesville Trinity 75-59.

The Lady Bears pulled away to win in a 12th District girls' basketball game. 

With the win, Butler County improved to 1-4 overall and evened its 12th District record to 1-1.


Balanced Bears beat Whitesville Trinity, 83-66

MORGANTOWN - Parker Rice scored 17 points to lead four Butler County players in double figures in scoring as the Bears beat visiting Whitesville Trinity 83-66 on Friday night.

Longtime rivals, Butler County and Whitesville Trinity met in a 12th District boys' basketball game.

With the win, Butler County improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the 12th District.

Whitesville Trinity dropped to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the district with the loss. 


Bears defeat Daviess County, 57-42

MORGANTOWN - Butler County notched its second straight win on Tuesday night, defeating visiting Daviess County 57-42 in an early-season boys' high school basketball game.

The Bears dealt 3rd Region rival Daviess County its first loss in the 2019-20 boys' high school basketball season. The Panthers dropped into the loss column following wins over Whitesville Trinity, Warren East and Trigg County.

With the win, Butler County moved to 2-0.

Daviess County dropped to 3-1 with the loss.
