        Butler Co. High School Boys Basketball history 1960-61. America was entering a new decade. The USA had just elected President John F. Kennedy on the national and world front. America faced many new challenges from the communist USSR (*Soviet Union). On the home front, The Civil Rights Movement was sweeping the nation, especially in the deep South.

Bears beat Eagles for 10th win in 11 games 

 

HARTFORD — Notching its 10th win in 11 games, Butler County beat Ohio County 61-45 in a non-district boys' high school basketball game on Tuesday, Feb. 13. 

Butler County improved to 17-7 after posting the win.

Following the loss, Ohio County dropped to 13-12.

Butler County High School honored the seniors from cheer, swim and girls’ basketball.

 

 Miss Sally Ann Butler

Sally has cheered for 7 years. She is the daughter of Adam and Casey Butler of Morgantown. After graduation, she plans to attend nursing school to get a Bachelor's Degree. She eventually plans to pursue a career as a labor and delivery nurse.

SOFTBALL: Clark commits to Midway University

MORGANTOWN — Butler County senior catcher/infielder Madison Clark has committed to Midway University.Clark will compete at the next level in her home state. Among the top high school softball players in the Third Region, Clark is set to compete in her senior campaign.

Price scores 40 points in Bears' win over Wildcats BROWNSVILLE — Junior guard Ty Price scored a game-high 40 points to lead Butler County over Edmonson County 97-68 in a 12th District boys' basketball game on Friday, Feb. 9.

Bears falter, drop game to Warren Central

BOWLING GREEN — Butler County faltered late as Warren Central battled back from behind to win 74-70 in a non-district boys' high school basketball game on Tuesday, Feb. 6.Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 14-7.

Belmont Christian Academy Senior Night

Belmont Christian Academy recognized their basketball and volleyball seniors.Westofn Taylor is the son of Elujah and Angie Taylor.  He has played basketball for six years.  Weston plans to be a Low Voltage Electrican. His favorite memory includes putting a snake in Josh Vanmeter's shoes at convention, playing hide and go seek during volleyball practice until he got in trouble, and saran wrapping Lawsen to a dolley and having to run 12 laps around the school. Weston is thankful for winning varsity and JV championships.

Bears claim district win over Cougars; Lady Bears battle but come up short

Butler County pushed past Grayson County 80-71 in a 12th District boys' basketball game on Friday, Feb. 2. After registering the win, Butler County improved to 13-6 overall and 4-0 in the 12th District.Grayson County dropped to 11-9 overall and 3-1 in the 12th District following the loss.
