Butler County standouts earn All Area honors

MORGANTOWN — Butler County standouts are among the high school football players that have earned All Area honors from ESPN Owensboro. 

Brody Hunt was named a First Team All Area Defense Defensive Back. 

Carson Miller was named a Second Team All Area Defense Linebacker. 

Colton Dunnells was named a Second Team All Area Offense Running Back. 

Defensive lineman Logan Hargrove and linebacker Devin Polson were each tabbed All Area Honorable Mention Defense selections.

Three BCHS band members earn All-District honors

MORGANTOWN — Three members of the Butler County High School band have earned All-District 3 honors from the Kentucky Music Educators Association.

 

The Butler County band members that have earned All-District 3 honors from the Kentucky Music Educators Association are Jordan Hale - 2nd Alternate, Flute; Zane Lasiter - 10th Chair, Clarinet and Ty Seiler - 2nd Alternate, Baritone Saxophone.

District 3 includes several area high schools.

Butler County ranked 10th in Media Preseason Region 3 Poll

MORGANTOWN — Butler County is ranked 10th in the Media Preseason Region 3 Girls' High School Basketball Poll.

Heading into the 2022-23 girls' high school basketball season, Butler County is ranked behind Hancock County, Muhlenberg County, Ohio County, Owensboro, Apollo, Breckinridge County, Daviess County, Owensboro Catholic and preseason frontrunner Meade County in Region 3.

Top-ranked Meade County received 10 first-place votes.

Second-ranked Owensboro Catholic received two first-place votes.

Bears ranked seventh in Media Preseason Region 3 Poll

MORGANTOWN — Butler County is ranked seventh in the Media Preseason Region 3 Boys' High School Basketball Poll.

 

Poised to make its debut in the 2022-23 boys' high school basketball season, Butler County is ranked behind Muhlenberg County, McLean County, Hancock County, Owensboro Catholic, Ohio County and preseason frontrunner Owensboro in Region 3.

The Bears are ranked ahead of Whitesville Trinity, Daviess County and Grayson County.

Hunt named Class 2A, District 2 Player of the Year

MORGANTOWN — Butler County senior athlete Brody Hunt has been named the Class 2A, District 2 Player of the Year. 
Hunt excelled throughout the 2022 high school football season, leading Butler County to a runner-up finish in Class 2A, District 2.

Embry named Class 2A, District 2 Coach of the Year

MORGANTOWN — Butler County head coach Brandon Embry has been named the Class 2A, District 2 Coach of the Year.
Embry guided Butler County to a runner-up finish in Class 2A, District 2 in October. After making an appearance in the Class 2A UK HealthCare Sports Medicine State Football Finals, Butler County exited the 2022 season 8-3.

Hunt rushes for over 1,000 yards

MORGANTOWN — Senior Brody Hunt reached a milestone for Butler County during the 2022 high school football season, rushing for over 1,000 yards. 

 Thriving on the ground for the Bears, Hunt rushed 106 times for 1,008 yards and 12 touchdowns in 11 games. 

Among the top high school football players in Class 2A, Hunt led Butler County throughout the 2022 high school football season.

The Bears excelled on the ground, averaging 234.6 rushing yards and 3.3 rushing touchdowns per game.

Butler County finishes fourth in region, qualifies for state

OWENSBORO — The Butler County High School cheerleading team has qualified for the 2022-23 State Competitive Cheer Competition.  

The Butler County High School cheerleading squad finished fourth in the Region 2 Competitive Cheer Competition at Owensboro High School on Saturday, Nov. 5. With the fourth-place finish, Butler County qualified for the State Competitive Cheer Competition.
