Bear Run 2015

Butler County Middle School was the site of the 2015 Bear Run and 1 mile walk on Saturday to support Butler County High School’s 2015 Project Prom. This is the 9th year for the run, which started in 2007 . This year the run featured 61 runners and 44 walkers in a diverse range of ages.

Conner Reed signs to play football at K.W.C.

Another Bulter County High School football player will be continuing his playing career at the collegiate level.  Conner Reed, last week, signed to play football at Kentucky Wesleyan College (K.W.C.) in Owensboro, Kentucky.  The signing ceremony was held at the Butler County High School Athletic Fieldhouse and was attended by friends, family members, teammates, coaches and school officials.  Reed, who played on both the offensive and defensive lines for Butler County, will be joining another Butler County player - C.W.

Andy travels to St. Louis’ Busch Stadium

Friday night, April 17, I, along with my dad, sister and brother-in-law, journeyed to St. Louis’ Busch Stadium to see the Cardinals take on the Cincinnati Reds.  As soon as we made it to St. Louis, we had time to only check into the hotel rooms, drop our bags and head to the game.

Kentucky Afield Outdoors: Spring turkey season is open

Natosha Cox of Butler County got her first turkey Saturday morning.

The wait is over for turkey hunters in Kentucky.
A calendar shift pushed the state’s 23-day general spring wild turkey season back this year to the third weekend in April. It opens Saturday, April 18 and runs through May 10.
Last spring, hunters in Kentucky reported taking 29,943 turkeys.

Butler County Bassmasters: Jackson Chiropractic Spring Open Tournament

Butler County Bassmasters held the Jackson Chiropractic Spring Open tournament at Lake Beshear Saturday April 4th.  Darren Napier and Matt Greenwood won the tournament with 23.90 lbs. Ryan Coleman and David Coleman finished 2nd with 19.44 lbs.

Daniel Cardwell and Nathan Neighbors finished 3rd with 18.55 lbs.

Gaskey Named OVC Pitcher of the Week

Senior CheyAnne Gaskey was named as the adidas® OVC Pitcher of the Week by the conference office on Monday for games played March 30-April 5. This marks the third time a Racer has won the award this season and the first weekly honor of her career for Gaskey.

2015 BC Bears Baseball Preview

The Butler County Bears baseball team is coming off of a disappointing 12-23 campaign in 2014.  The 2015 season starts with another coaching change for the Bears, their 5th head coach in 6 years, as the 2014 Bears freshman team coach Ben Grey assumes the reigns at the varsity level.  Coach Grey, a standout high school player from Edmonson County and a former collegiate player at Campbellsville University, brings a lot of excitement to the post, along with baseball knowledge and a strong desire to enhance the character of the young men on the team.  Assistant Coaches for the Bears are Adam S

Butler County Bassmasters Kickoff Tournament

 Ryan Coleman and John McEwen were the winners.

Butler County Bassmasters held the CRT Sports and Monogram Kick off OPEN tournament at the Peabody WMA Saturday, March the 21st. Ryan Coleman and John McEwen were the winners with 5 fish weighing in at 13.80 lbs. including the big fish of the tournament, a 6.10 lb. largemouth.

Jim and Sam finished 2nd with 10.49 lbs.
