Bears Softball ends season with 3-0 loss to Meade in 3rd Region Tournament

Butler County Softball's season came to an end on Thursday, May 28, with a 3-0 loss to Meade County in the Third Region Tournament.  Sophomore pitcher Zoie Pendley was named to the Third Region All Tournament Team.  Pendley scattered six hits and struck out four batters over six innings of work.  Madison Clark, Taylor King, Emily Rich, Cheyenne White, and Zoie Pendley all singled for Butler County.

BCHS Softball: 12th District Runner-Up

The Butler County High School softball team came up short last week in its bid to win a 12th District title.  The Bears fell 5-0 to host Grayson County.  Things got away from the Bears in the second inning as the Cougars put together a string of hits, while taking advanage of a Butler County error, in plating five runs during the inning.  Meanwhile, Butler County was able to scatter only five hits for the game and never advanced a runner to third base.

Gaskey Named Head Softball Coach at St. Mary's H.S. in Paducah

St. Mary High School is pleased to welcome former Murray State pitcher CheyAnne Gaskey as the new Lady Viking softball coach for 2015-16. Ms. Gaskey's name peppers the record books of the KHSAA, as well as MSU.

St. Mary High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Paducah, Kentucky. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Owensboro and is part of the St. Mary School System, which also includes elementary and middle schools.

Butler County Bears Softball gets 5-1 win over Trinity in district play

An impressive two-way performance from senior pitcher Kassie Phelps led the Butler County Bears softball team to a 5-1 win Tuesday over Trinity, as Phelps came up huge at the dish and on the rubber.

Phelps had two extra-base hits for the Bears. She singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth and fifth innings.

Phelps kept contact to a minimum, striking out seven Trinity batters. She allowed no earned runs, five hits and no walks over seven innings.

Trinity managed to score one run in the first inning on an RBI-single by Nina Wathen.

BCHS Baseball Wraps Up Season

The Bears picked up two wins in the final week of regular season, beating Muhlenberg County 4-1 on Tuesday night behind a strong pitching performance by Blake Graham.  This avenged an earlier 8 inning defeat at the hands of the Mustangs the previous Saturday.  The Bears leading pitcher and top hitter statistically, Graham continued his hot streak at the plate also with some help from Eddie Phelps, Trevor Parker and Brandon Jones.

B.C.H.S. Softball plans summer camp; dates set for middle school softball tryouts

The coaching staff and players of the Butler County Bears’ softball team will be conducting a softball camp this summer for girls ages 5-12 from June 8-11, 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. daily.  The 14th Annual BCHS Softball Camp will be held at the BCHS Softball Complex off Gardner Lane in Morgantown.  The camp is designed to teach the fundamentals of fastpitch softball and to encourage them to play at the next level.  Eligibility is determined by a player's age at the time of the camp.

With a 9-8 record halfway through the season, the Butler County High School softball team was at a crossroads.  Although off to a good start, the Bears were hovering at the .500 mark with several games during the second half of the season that could go either way.  After dropping two hard-fought, one-run games on April 11 (Rockcastle County 2-1, Highlands 8-7 in nine innings), Butler County regained its focus and with gritty determination went on a six-game run.  The Bears defeated Russellville 8-2 on April 16; Bowling Green 5-0 on April 17; Hopkinsville 7-0 on 4/21; Trinity 9-0 on 4/23; Lo

B.C.H.S. Softball Seniors Honored

The Butler County High School Softball Team honored their two seniors on Monday night prior to the game with Breckinridge County Tigers.  Emily Rich and Kassie Phelps were honored. The team made the tunnel of bats for the players and parents to walk to the field. Each senior was presented with gifts from the team.

"I"m really proud of Kassie and Emily for their hard work and dedication to our softball program over the years," said coach John Embry.  "Both young ladies are key members of our team and they will be missed next year."

B.C.H.S. Baseball Seniors

 With the season winding down, the Butler County High School baseball team took time last week to honor its 2015 seniors.  This year's seniors are Brandon Jones, Conner Reed, Hunter Wilson and Peyton Bratcher.  Each player was announced and recognized along with their parents for their contributions to the B.C.H.S. Baseball program.
