After having the August 31st game with Logan County cancelled due to the incoming weather from hurricane Harvey, the Bears played district perennial powerhouse Meade County at home.  In the five years since redistricting for soccer, Meade County has won the district all five times.  Meade showed their strength by beating the Bears 10 -2.  The Bears  saw several near scoring opportunities in the first half with shots by Ernest Lee, Jose Sanchez, and Alex Diaz which were thwarted by the Meade Defense.  Butler finally ended up getting scores from Ernest Lee and Omar Lopez.

The following Saturday, the Butler County hosted the Glasgow Scotties with about the same results as with Meade County.  The Scotties walked away with a 7-1 win with Ernest Lee scoring the lone goal for Butler County.

At half time, Coach O'Driscoll decided to change the formation the Bears had been playing from a more aggressive offensive minded formation to a more balanced formation.  After the game Coach O told his team that he accepted responsibility for the last two losses as he was expecting too much out of his midfielders by playing just 3 and that from here on out they would play with 4 midfielders.

The new formation paid immediate dividends in the rematch at home against Hart County.  In the first meeting, Hart County won 4-2.  This time the soccer Bears would prevail with an 8-2 win.  With four midfielders, Jacoty Hope was able to drop back into the center defense when Hart Co. was pressing the attack while leaving 3 midfielders to sweep up balls coming out of the defense to start an attack.  The half time was tied 2-2 with goals from Jacoty Hope and Jose Sanchez who put a shot in the net from 30 yards out.  The Bears offense also missed sever point blank scoring opportunities.   The second half was all bears with scores from Ernest Lee, Guermmo Gonzales, Ormar Lopez, and Jose Sanchez.

The Bears record after 10 games in a projected 20 game schedule stands at 5-5.

The Bears have scored 43 goals

Ernest Lee - 15

Jose Sanchez - 10

Omar Lopez - 9

Guermmo Gonzales - 4

Alex Diaz - 2

Marcos Neblina - 1

Cole Maxfield - 1

Jacoty Hope - 1

The defense has given up 39 goals.  Time will tell if the new 4X4X2 formation will reduce goals being given up while maintaining the goal scoring pace.

Then next two games are away at Logan County on September 14 and Muhlenberg County on September 18.
