Adair County freshman Zion Harmon, the top point guard in his recruiting class, likes Kentucky a lot.

After helping Bowling Green win the state title as an eighth-grader, Zion Harmon transferred to Adair and is averaging 32 points per game this season. He had 54 points in a win over Caverna last week and got 34 the next game.

The 5-10 Harmon attended UK’s Big Blue Madness in October and was impressed.

Laura Rutledge Likes UK's Talent As Calipari Searches For Way To Reload

Just a few hours after she worked the Alabama-Georgia national football championship game, ESPN/SEC Network reporter Laura Rutledge was in Rupp Arena for the Kentucky-Texas A&M basketball game.
She managed to get to Lexington in time for UK’s shoot around before the game and liked the references Kentucky coach John Calipari made to the national championship game won by Alabama in overtime the night before.

BCMS Bears, Cheerleaders recognize 8th graders

On Tuesday, January 9th the Butler County Middle School 8th grade Bears basketball team and cheerleaders were recognized for their hard work and dedication this season. Many have played and cheered for BCMS since they were in 6th grade. The coaches spoke highly about their teams.

Butler County Middle School hosts Christmas Invitational

 

On December 29th and 30th, Butler County Middle School hosted its first annual Christmas Invitational, sponsored by State Farm Agent Baker Gardner.  December 29th featured 7th grade basketball action with Burns Middle School, Grayson County Middle, and Edmonson County Middle in attendance, and December 30th featuring 8th grade action. With 1st and 2nd place awarded for each day and each game awarding a player of the game.

Friday could be the best day, worst day or somewhere in between for University of Kentucky fans.

If the Cats beat Louisville in basketball in Rupp Arena — something coach John Calipari’s team is expected to — then UK fans are going to be happy. If the Cats beat Northwestern in Nashville in the Music City Bowl — something coach Mark Stoops’ team is not expected to do — then UK fans will be giddy.

BCMS Lady Bears' 8th graders, parents recognized

On Monday, December 4th the 8th grade Lady Bears were recognized for their hard work and dedication this season. Many have played for BCMS since they were in 6th grade.

“I appreciate all the effort these girls have put forth this season. I wish them the best,” said BCMS head coach Barry Frazier.

"Hot" Bears open season at 4-1

With four wins in five games, the Butler County boys' basketball team is off to an impressive start to the 2017-18 season.  The Bears defeated Metcalfe County 78-52 on November 28, fell to Breckinridge County 80-79 on November 30, beat Thomas Nelson 81-36 on December 2, earned a hard-fought 69-62 win on December 4 against McLean County, and defeated Nelson County 77-67 on December 5.

BCHS Head Football Coach: Applications being accepted, plans are to fill position before Christmas

 

With the recent resignation of Butler County High School head football coach Ryan Emmick, the school is moving relatively quickly to fill the position.  BCHS Principal Michael Gruber is heading up the hiring process and has already received five applications.
