BCHS Volleyball picks up wins

The 2018 Butler County High School Girls Volleyball season got started with a bang on Tuesday night with victories over Metcalfe County and Russellville in the season opener at BCHS.  The Lady Bears defeated Metcalfe in straight sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-18.  Butler County took control early and never looked back. Solid defense and playing as a team was the keys to their success according to the coaching staff.

Butler County Bassmasters hold first night tournament @Barren River

Butler County Bassmasters held their sixth Team Trail tournament of the 2018 season at Barren River Lake on Friday July the 6th. This was the first night tournament of the year and the fish are out in their deep water areas for the summer.  Barren River Lake has always been fun, providing excellent numbers of keeper sized bass, and it was no different this year.

Hundreds of dedicated anglers braved the rising Green River last weekend to take part in the 2018 Green River Catfish Festival Fishing Tournament.  The staple event ran from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

BCHS Softball hosts 2018 awards banquet

The 2018 Butler County High School Bears' softball team recently held its end-of-season awards banquet at the high school Commons Area.  The Bears finished 19-11 overall and were 4-2 in regular season district play, which was good for the #2 seed in the 12th District Tournament.

Jordan Green Overall Winner of the "Toughest Race on the River"

The 37th Annual Green River Road Race 5 Mile Run/Walk kicked off the 2018 Catfish Festival on Saturday.  Named the "Toughest Race on the River," 47 participants started on Tyler Street in Morgantown and finished in Woodbury.
