Senator C.B. Embry Jr. has died

Following a battle with cancer, longtime Western Kentucky state lawmaker and public official C.B. Embry Jr. died late Thursday. Embry was 81 years old, and had just resigned from his post earlier this week.  Embry’s Senate District 6 had moved to a different part of the state during this year’s redistricting process due to population shifts in his native Western Kentucky. The district is now located in the suburban greater Louisville area, including Oldham and Trimble counties as well as a part of outer Jefferson County.

2022 Butler County Property Tax Bills ( blue post cards) will be payable beginning Monday, October 3rd, 2022. Please contact the Sheriff's Office if you do not receive your tax bill by October 15th, 2022.

2022 Tax Bills can be viewed at butlercounty.ky.gov beginning October 1st, 2022.

Jenkins honored for 57 years of service

On Sunday, September 11, a retirement reception was held for Anita Jenkins at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Jenkins retired after 57 years of service as the director of the Morgantown Housing Authority.

Fifth District Volunteer Fire Department Receives AFG Grant

The Fifth District VFD was notified in August that they had been awarded an AFG grant for $70,456.91. The Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program's purpose is to protect the public and fire fighting personnel's health and safety against fire-related hazards.  Fifth District VFD will be able to purchase six new SCBA units. An SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) is a critical component in the personal protective equipment used by firefighters.

County approves $25,610 for election scanners; $1,200 for E-911 upgrades

Butler County Fiscal Court met at the Butler County Courthouse on Monday, September 12th. All magistrates were in attendance: Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Timmy Givens, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant.

With a short agenda, magistrates quickly took care of business. First, they approved a $1,200 request from E-911 for equipment upgrades.
