2022 Butler County Stockman’s Association Forage Contest

Mike Jennings and Mike Martin farm together and won 2 of the 3 divisions in a past contest.

The 2022 Stockman’s Association Forage Contest is about to get underway.  The contest was created to encourage members to grow better quality forage for their animals or to sell.   All Stockman’s Association members may enter the grass hay, grass/legume or legume, or haylage division of the contest.  The Stockman’s Association will pay the sample fee for one sample for each division per member.  The Stockman’s Association will also pay the postage to send samples to Frankfort.  Sample entries will be collected by Lance Lockhart and analyzed by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.

Anyone wishing to enter the contest should contact the Extension Office by close of business September 30th.  Contest results are decided by the highest relative feed value and the prize is $200 cash for each division.  Prize awards are from the Stockman’s Association.  Membership in the Butler County Stockman’s Association is $5 per year.
