Kentucky State Police Conducts Murder Investigation in Logan County

Lewisburg, KY (August 12, 2022) - On Thursday, August 12th just before 11:00 PM, KSP Post 3 was requested by the Logan County Sheriff's Office to conduct a death investigation in the Lewisburg community.  Logan County deputies responded to 3904 Deer Lick Road and located a deceased male near his residence.

Delta 8 THC declared legal in the Commonwealth of Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky — For over a year, the Kentucky Hemp Association has been embroiled in a legal argument with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and the Kentucky State Police regarding the legality of Delta 8 THC, a compound found naturally in hemp plants. After a year of deliberation —on Wednesday August 3, 2022 — Boone Circuit Judge Rick Brueggemann declared Delta 8 to be a legal derivative of hemp, and issued a permanent injunction against law enforcement which prevents them from charging retailers and producers with criminal activity for selling Delta 8.

Owl's Head Solid Waste Landfill approved by state

After three years of controversy and significant local opposition, the Kentucky Department of Waste Management has finally approved the construction of a new solid waste landfill (residual) at a location on KY 70 West (Rochester Road).  Owl's Head Alloys had initially applied for the landfill in 2019.  Following a lenghtly legal application process and a local comment period, final approval was given on August 3.  The landfill has been opposed by a local citizens' advocacy group - Butler County Stop the Landfill.

MPD Arrests

On August 3, Morgantown City Police were dispatched to the apartments on Jim Embry Road due to a suspicious male subject. Upon arrival, Chase Alexander Swift, age 22, of Morgantown, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Deg 1st Off (Methamphetamine). Swift also had an outstanding warrant. Swift is lodged at the Butler County Jail.

Butler County Teacher Arrested

A Butler County teacher and coach, Steven Ross McLean, 34, was arrested today by the Butler County Sheriff's Department. McLean is lodged in the Butler County Jail and charged with Sexual Abuse, 1st degree, victim under 12 years of age.
