Court corrects minutes; takes action on several items

Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Monday, October 10, at the courthouse. All magistrates were in attendance: Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Timmy Givens, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Byrant.

Boys & Girls Club of Butler County Dedicate Gymnasium to J. Marshall Hughes

The Butler County Boys & Girls Club is thankful for every person, church, and business that donated to them throughout the years. However, on Friday, October 14th, they gathered to celebrate one donor in particular. Over the last fifteen years, J. Marshall Hughes has given over $100,000 to the club, making himself the largest donor in the club's history.

Sen. Steve Meredith takes over committee chair after passing of Sen. C.B. Embry

FRANKFORT---Following the recent passing of Senator C.B. Embry, the longtime chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Veterans, Military Affairs, & Public Protection (VMAPP),  Senate President Robert Stivers announced that Senator Steve Meredith (R- Leitchfield) was named as Embry’s successor.

2022 Taxes

Most people in Butler County received their tax bills in the mail. But, if you haven't, it will be there soon; look for the blue postcard.

You may be one of the lucky ones that had a decrease in your tax bill. Most, however, have an increase in their tax bill. Wondering why?

John Prine Memorial Park

John Prine wrote, "When I die let my ashes float down the Green River, Let my soul roll on up to the Rochester Dam. I'll be halfway to Heaven with Paradise waitin', Just five miles away from wherever I am."

In 2020, Prine 73 passed away due to Covid-19. His wife, Fiona Whelan Prine, spread a portion of his ashes off the Rochester Ferry into the Green River.

FISCAL COURT: County moves forward on broadband agreement

 Corps of Engineers has safety concerns with Woodbury Dam

Butler County Fiscal Court meet on Monday, September 26, at the courthouse. All magistrates were present: Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Timmy Givens, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant.

The Court started with a closed session to review applications for the county road department. Magistrates decided to schedule interviews with both applicants.
