United Way Day of Caring

The fourteenth annual Day of Caring in Southern Kentucky was on Wednesday, July 27, 2022. This event allowed more than 45 nonprofit projects to be completed in seven counties throughout the United Way of Southern Kentucky service area. In addition, hundreds of volunteers from dozens of companies lent a hand in this collective effort to improve the community.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL 2022-2023: Students resume classes August 10

Although summer is roughly at its halfway-point, summer break for students is gradually coming to a close. Butler County Schools are set to start the 2022-2023 school year in a little over two weeks.  The first day for students is Wednesday, August 10.

Edmonson County Attorney Greg Vincent files to run for vacant 38th Judicial District Seat

BROWNSVILLE, KY, JULY 20, 2022- Edmonson County Attorney Greg Vincent has filed to run for the vacant 38th Judicial District seat that includes Edmonson, Butler, Ohio, and Hancock Counties. Vincent made the announcement today at a special event at the Edmonson County Courthouse.

Attorney Vincent said that after a 29-year career as an attorney, and upon several respected individuals approaching him about the vacant seat, he made the decision to move forward with the filing.

Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision in Butler County

Sugar Grove, Ky. (July 20, 2022) – On Tuesday July 19, 2022 just after 1:00 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green was requested by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a fatal collision in Butler County. Troopers responded to the scene of the collision located at 20 mile marker of I-165 northbound in the Sugar Grove community.

Butler County Sheriff welcomes new deputy

Sheriff Scottie Ward and SRO Deputy Jasna Chamings

Butler County Sheriff, Scottie Ward swore in his first female deputy on July 1, 2022.

Deputy Jasna Chamings will be working as bailiff and school resource officer at North Butler Elementary and Morgantown Elementary.  

 

Chamings has previously worked as SRO in Logan and Fayette County.

United Way announces over $41,000 in investments in Butler County

(July 18, 2022) - United Way of Southern Kentucky announced today that it is investing a total of $41,000 in Education, Health, and Safety Net programs and services for its July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023, funding period in Butler County. Seven local programs provided through five service providers will receive the allocated campaign dollars and donor designations. In total, $968,514 will be invested across the 10-county Barren River Area Development District (BRADD).
