The Butler County Tourism Commission held its monthly meeting on April 12, at the Farm Boy Restaurant.  Members present were Judge-Executive David Fields, Mayor Linda Keown, Roger Southerland, Diane Dyer, Brenda Longhofer, Doug Odle, Terrell House, Darrell Deweese, and Becky Hankins.

The Morgantown City Council met in regular session last night at the Eva Hawes Ag Expo and Community Center.  Maureen Carpenter, who replaced Miller Slaughter as industrial recruiter, addressed the Council about recruitment activities and renewal of the city’s contract, which would be $20,600.  C

EMTs evaluate injured students in the triage area

Butler County Middle School was the site of an emergency exercise last Thursday afternoon. Butler County Schools coordinated with the emergency services of Morgantown and Butler County to plan the exercise.

Shortly after 1:00 am Easter morning a one vehicle wreck sent one Morgantown man to the hospital. The wreck occurred near 255 W GL Smith Street in front of King Drug and Home Care.

Fourth District Magistrate David Whittinghill

Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session for approximately 68-minutes on Monday night. All members were present along with several county employees, elected officers, and interested parties.

Patrick Daugherty of Morgantown has been selected as a winner in America’s Farmers Grow CommunitiesSM, which gives farmers the opportunity to win $2,500 for their favorite local nonprofit organizations. The donations are available through the Monsanto Fund.

“He was a teacher, he was a coach, he was a mentor and a volunteer,”  said Morgantown Mayor Linda Keown in part of her opening remarks as the city unveiled a new street sign for the drive leading up to the ball fields at the Charles T. Black Park Saturday afternoon.

Butler County Solid Waste Coordinator and Enforcement Officer Mark Sorrels described the Commonwealth Cleanup Week held March 17-24 as a "huge success." Over 15 tons of garbage were collected and removed from the county during the week-long effort.
