Jones Funeral Chapel continues Christmas Memorial Trees tradition

Once again the Christmas trees at Jones Funeral Chapel are decorated with memorial ornaments. For over 20 years, members of the surrounding communities have brought ornaments to the funeral chapel to honor their departed loved ones.

Christmas at First Baptist

December 2. The Children's Choir, directed by Mrs Penny Wallace, will present "Signs of Christmas." at 6:00 pm.

December 16. Handbells in concert, directed by Mrs. Ann Bartholomew, at 6:00 pm.

December 23. The Adult Choir, directed by Mr. Bill Camp, will present "Jesus, There's Just Something About That Name." at 11:00 am.

Folk Festival Held at MES

On Monday November 26, the 1st Annual Kentuckian Folk Festival was held at Morgantown Elementary School. The all day event consisted of multiple presentations and displays. The event was organized by Diana Flener.

"All this would not have been possible without the planning assistance of the Green River Chapter of the D.A.R. and also the presentations from our local craftsmen," said Flener.

Treece family named 2012 Adoptive Family of the Year

Marty and GeorgeAnn Treece were named the Adoptive Family of the Year for 2012 for the Two Rivers Region. They were recognized at an Adoption Reception in Frankfort on November 1, 2012.  November is adoption awareness month. 

Marty and GeorgeAnn live in Edmonson County in Smiths Grove. They have four biological children and eight adoptive children.

Monticello Baptist Children’s Christmas Program

Sunday November 25, the children of Monticello Baptist Church had their annual morning Christmas program.  After the welcome by Pastor Randy Burns and announcements by Shane Wells, there was offering taken and responsive reading by the congregation.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Morgantown

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Morgantown.  On Saturday morning several groups were setting up Christmas trees for the Festival of Trees, in the Cousin Don building on Main Street.  The Methodist Women had over 200 hats, mittens, gloves, and scarfs for their tree.  Festival of Trees will kick off on Friday night with a dinner and open on Saturday, December 1st to the public.

Nov.26th:M.E.S. 1st Annual Kentuckian Folk Festival

On November 26, 2012 Morgantown Elementary School is hosting it’s first, hopefully annual, Kentuckian Folk Festival.  Throughout the school day all M.E.S.’ students will be coming by grade level to the Media Center to visit and interact one-on-one with things from their past.  Local craftsman will be in attendance to share with children about the day to day happenings of their pioneer ancestors through a living history presentation.  Children will be able to listen, learn, ask questions, and touch items that are part of their history and which are a part of their current lives.  All this wo

Is your dog sick? You could be next
