Two Butler County High FCCLA members attended State Leadership Camp in Hardinsburg during June.  Members helped to plan the fall regional FCCLA meeting and networked with members around the Commonwealth.
 
BCHS members attending were Payton Howard, Region 4 President, Allison Kurfiss, chapter officer, and Kimberlea Embry, adviser.

Lunch status eligibility letters are being sent to households.  If you are new to the district or have not completed an application you may do so through the Board of Education.   There needs to be only one application per household.  School guidance counselors can also assist with applications.

When was the last time you heard “My Old Kentucky Home” sung by an opera singer followed shortly by a Tom T. Hall classic? For those who attended the latest music at the mural, the answer is, Friday night on the square.

Cool Springs Church recently took a mission trip to Puerto Rico, June 7-15, 2013.  Saturday they arrived at Las Cruses Training and Retreat Center in Cayey, Puerto Rico.  On Sunday they attended Church at Iglesia Cristiana Ciudad Fuerte and then visited the Caguas Botanical Gardens.

Morgantown City Council member Terrell House, with the help from club members delivered watermelons that were donated by the Salvation Army in Bowling Green to the Boys & Girls Club of Butler County.

The Final Finish Car Show, which was rained out during the Green River Catfish Festival,  was held in the Casco parking lot on Saturday, July 13. Several different types of cars and trucks were present. This year the 8 categories for the show were: Best of Butler County, Miss Catfish's Choice, Best Paint Job, Best Corvette, Mayor's Choice, City Council Choice, County Judge Choice, and Best of Show.

Gary, Betty and son Mike Robbins of Morgantown grow their tomatoes in buckets of water; lots of buckets, at last count about two thousand of them. The process is called hydroponics, where the plants are grown in a mixture of water and pearlite with a tube that brings chemical free nutrition to them. Think of watching your favorite doctor type show on television where the bucket is the therapy bed, the plants are the patients, the tube is an IV and the care givers are the Robbins’.
