The alternative program at this year's Butler County Extension Service and Farm Bureau field day will be making a personalized cake carrier using a Cricut machine.  Attendees will learn about using the Cricut machine to cut letters and shapes and putting these shapes on a cake carrier.  Attendees will keep the carrier they make.  The cost to participate in the alternative program is $5.  This covers part of the materials.  Tracy Cowles and Shanna Drake will be conducting the program.  This year's program will be at the Banock Masonic Lodge at 4:00 p.m.  There will be a farm tour that leaves

Ethan Levi Johnson, a 2013 graduate of Butler County High School is the first recipient of the Green River Chapter NSDAR C.A.R. Scholarship.  Levi is enrolled at Western Kentucky University for the fall term.  He will receive the $1,000.00 Scholarship Award at the August 19th meeting of the Green River Chapter NSDAR.

Tracy Cowles, Butler County Family & Consumer Sciences Agent, has announced the formation of a Cancer Support Group. The first meeting will be Tuesday evening, August 27, 5:30 p.m., at the Butler County Extension Office located at 122 East G L Smith Street in Morgantown.

The Butler County Family Resource Center  is now enrolling students for Owl Academy!

The Butler County Extension Service/Butler County Farm Bureau Field Day will be Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the Banock Masonic Lodge.  The Banock Masonic Lodge is located on Dexterville Road in northwest Butler County.  Registration will begin at 3:30 p.m., with the program starting at 4:00 p.m.  

The Kyle Whitaker Band earned the one wild card spot for the finals of the 2013 Big O talent competition at Greenwood Mall this weekend.  Kyle performed an original song, American Man.
