Operation Christmas Child

Every single shoebox filled in Butler County is a Gospel Opportunity.  As you fill your box, please pray for the recipient.  These gifts are going to children in some of the most heartbreaking settings you can imagine- bombed out ruins in Bosnia, squalid slums in India, an earthquake flattened orphanage in Haiti, a trash dump that is home to the poorest of the poor in Nicaragua, and a hospital ward filled with children dying of aids in South Africa.  In places like these you can imagine how happy these children are to receive a gift when this is the first gift they have ever received.

Is your cat sick? You could be next

Anyone who’s watched their cat go through a bout of vomiting or a case of the sniffles has probably wondered: Can I get sick from my cat? Is what my cat has contagious? The answer is yes. There are actually a number of diseases you can contract catch from your cat, known broadly as zoonotic diseases. The word “zoonotic” is used to describe any disease that is transmittable from animals to humans. The best known and most feared example of a zoonotic disease is rabies.

Afterwards, they returned to the church, where they gathered in the basement to thaw out with various soups, sandwiches and desserts.  After eating, there were crafts for the kids.  There were other games and outdoor marshmallow roasting.  There was a very good turnout and all in attendance had a great time.
