It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Morgantown.  On Saturday morning several groups were setting up Christmas trees for the Festival of Trees, in the Cousin Don building on Main Street.  The Methodist Women had over 200 hats, mittens, gloves, and scarfs for their tree.  Festival of Trees will kick off on Friday night with a dinner and open on Saturday, December 1st to the public.

On November 26, 2012 Morgantown Elementary School is hosting it’s first, hopefully annual, Kentuckian Folk Festival.  Throughout the school day all M.E.S.’ students will be coming by grade level to the Media Center to visit and interact one-on-one with things from their past.  Local craftsman will be in attendance to share with children about the day to day happenings of their pioneer ancestors through a living history presentation.  Children will be able to listen, learn, ask questions, and touch items that are part of their history and which are a part of their current lives.  All this wo

Anyone who’s watched their dog go through a bout of diarrhea or the sniffles has probably wondered if they, too, were at risk of getting sick. So, can you get sick from your dog?

The answer is yes. There are a number of diseases you can contract from your pet, and they are known broadly as zoonotic diseases. The word “zoonotic” is used to designate any disease that is transmitted from animals to humans. The best known and most feared example of a zoonotic disease is rabies. Other common zoonotic diseases in dogs include:

A diverse group of critters and creatures, ghouls and goblins made their way to the Beech Tree News/WLBQ office on Halloween night as trick-or-treaters.  They were greeted by the Beech Tree Bear and plenty of candy.  

A festive atmosphere enveloped Morgantown Elementary (MES) on Friday, November 16, as the school hosted its annual fall festival.  The event, which also serves as a fundraiser, is coordinated by MES staff and members of the school's Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO).  

Festivities actually got underway during the school day, paused briefly for school dismissal, and then started back at 5 p.m.

Workers on Wednesday, during the predawn hours and with the aid of floodlights, pour the floor for the new Morgantown Mission to be located at the corner of Main and G. L. Smith streets.
