Final Finish Cruise-In & Car Show

The Final Finish Car Show, which was rained out during the Green River Catfish Festival,  was held in the Casco parking lot on Saturday, July 13. Several different types of cars and trucks were present. This year the 8 categories for the show were: Best of Butler County, Miss Catfish's Choice, Best Paint Job, Best Corvette, Mayor's Choice, City Council Choice, County Judge Choice, and Best of Show.

"This was our first year to sponsor the Car Show and  we are pleased with the turn out." Said the Ingram brothers, Eric, Jay, and Chase.

Along with trophies door prizes were given away. Door prizes included a set of Edelbrock valve covers for a small block Chevrolet engine, a case of 5W-30 motor oil, a car cleaning kit, a Mighty Demon carburetor, 4 Holley Carburetor T-shirts, and a $250 Final Finish gift card good for ceramic, powder coating, rhino lining, or paint.

The weather gave a small bout of rain near the beginning of the car show, but the cars stayed put, rolled up the windows and waited for it to pass. Following the critique of the judges and a thorough look at all the entries, the winners were determined.

The winners were as follows: Best of Butler County: Jody Ellis with a 1967 Chevelle. Miss Catfish's Choice: Mark Alvey with a 2010 Camaro. Best Paint Job: Chris Sanders with a 1973 Camaro. Best Corvette: Dennis Ralph with a 1969 Corvette. Mayor's Choice: Kelly Givens with a 1970 Camaro. City Council Choice: Shannon Hill with a 1967 Camaro. County Judge Choice: Sharon Posey with a 1986 Camaro. Best of Show: Joe Bratcher with a 1969 Camaro.

Mayor Keown was very pleased with the car show in general and elaborated on the connection that custom cars have to the arts and culture.

"Types of things like this are what helps draw the community together. Especially these old cars that have been taken apart and put back together, they are an art to me. It's just unbelievable what people can do and the amount of patience that you have to have for that," said Keown.

Judge David Fields was impressed with the wide range of vehicles at the show.

"They've got some really nice cars here, I mean these are all top-quality cars. They've got probably at least 6 or 7 different classes of cars. The quality of cars is very nice," said Fields.
