Stop the Violence at BCHS

Throughout the week of December 3rd through 7th, Butler County High School hosted a Stop the Violence Week which informed students about ways to recognize and prevent school bullying. This week was a project to implement the FCCLA national program in action Stop the Violence. Throughout the week students were encouraged students to stop bullying and report any bullying they saw. Each day was of a different theme, all encouraging the stopping of school bullying. They kicked off the week by having everyone sign a banner pledging to stop school bullying.

Be Mindful of Your Eating Habits

Tracy M. Cowles, County Extension Agent for Family & Consumer Sciences

One of the most common New Year’s resolutions we make is to lose weight. Eating the correct portions of nutritious foods and engaging in physical activity are two keys to successful weight loss. One way that may help you keep your portions under control is to be mindful of what you eat.

Mindful eating means you eat slowly and enjoy your food with all your senses. When you are more mindful of what you eat, you may become more aware of when you become full, which prevents overeating.
