60th Anniversary Celebration of Morgantown 1st United Methodist Church

Morgantown First United Methodist Church is celebrating its 60-year anniversary since opening the new church doors in 1954.  The congregation invites the community to celebrate with them on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the church.  Worship and remembrance service begins at 10:30, with lunch at noon, followed by special activities and fellowship.  Please join us as we celebrate the past and look forward to the future through God and Jesus Christ.

Fun Day @ The Park

The Boys & Girls Club of Butler County hosted a Fun Day on Tuesday at the Eva J. Hawes Building at the City Park.  According to Bruce White, director of the Club, the day was organized for all children in Butler County. 
The South Central Kentucky Kids on the Block kicked off the activities with the Get Fit Program which focuses on setting goals to eat healthy foods and to exercise. The child-size puppets stress that it doesn’t matter how big or small a person is, what matters is that we can all become healthier by setting goals for health and fitness.

Annual Johnson-Harris Reunion

Descendants of the late Roy Lee & Loretha Harris Johnson cordially invite all friends, schoolmates, & families to their annual Johnson-Harris Reunion on Sat., June 28, at the Morgantown Boys & Girls Club.  Renew old acquaintances & fellowship with new cousins & friends. 4-H Camp Information

    Once again, it’s time for 4-H Camp, and if you haven’t gotten your application in, now is the time to do so!!  Last year, over 100 youth and adults from Butler County attended 4-H Camp at Dawson Springs.  Our camping dates this year are July 14 - July 18, 2014 and we still have spots remaining.

Congratulations Brian Jones!

Congratulations to our grandson Brian Jones, son of Kevin and Angie Jones.  Brian graduated from Spencer County High School.  He was Summa Cum Laude, member of Beta Club, and the National Honor Society. We are proud of you and wish you the best when you start the University of Louisville in the fall.

Hankins - Hughes

Craig and Becky Hankins of Morgantown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Shira Beth Hankins, to Wade Martin Hughes, Jr. son of Rev. Wade Martin and Linda Hughes of Smiths Grove.
Shira is a graduate of Butler County High School and a graduate of Western Kentucky University.  She recently received her Master of Science in Nursing Degree from Western Kentucky University. Shira is a Nurse Practitioner at Dr. Ghayth Hammad’s office in Morgantown.

Summer Fun @BC Public Library

Summer Reading at The Butler County Public Library begins June 1st!  Amazing Coupons will be given to Summer Reading participants.  The Library has some awesome programs planned in June starting with our kick off concert June 13th when the library, along with The Butler County Arts Guild will present “The Wulfe Brothers” at 6:30 pm at the Mural.  Other fabulous programs will take place June 16th-21st.  For more information about the activities going on throughout the Summer, check out our web page, follow us on Facebook, or call the library at (270)526-4722.
