Chapter 6: Outstanding In His Field

“What is that smell?” Chloe asked Pa as the nasty odor filled the truck.
“That’s cow manure,” Pa explained.
“Cow manure?” I repeated, unsure of what cow manure was but happy I wasn’t responsible for the rancid scent.
“Yes,” Pa confirmed, “cow manure.”
“I don’t want to be crude, Pa,” I said, “but it smelled like somebody used the bathroom – and for a moment I was scared it was me!”
“Somebody did use the bathroom, son,” Pa answered, “the cows.”
The look on our face was priceless.

Shoebox Ministry in full swing in Butler County

For Lorena, in Peru, it was a pair of light-up sneakers. For Alex, it was a candy cane. For Albert, a notebook, and for Perla, a toothbrush. The list could go on, each item and seemingly insignificant, yet God used each one as the catalyst to change lives. There are 100 million children like the above. The numbers are huge, but the impact is measured one by one. Lorena received her shoe box gift with the light up tennis shoes 10 years ago. Today, at 18, she is the leader in her Church and wants to serve in full time ministry.
