Carter Takes First Place In Catfish Cook-Off

Catfish Cook-Off Winners: Jessica Davis, Felicia Carter, and Bobbi Hajen

On July 5th 2014, the Catfish Cook- off took place. There were a few problems with electricity, but that didn’t stop these chefs from creating some delicious spins on their own version of catfish.  There were 10 judges, William King, Barbie and Dave Tatman, Greg Baxter, Jerry Smith, Blake Chambers, Jodie Southerland, Gina Howard, Kim Embry, and Mary Harris, and they had a hard time picking these winners from the delicious plates presented.  The Catfish Cook-off is sponsored by Dr. Todd Cohron.

Weeks & Tynes Engagement

 Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery Scott Weeks of Greensboro, Alabama announce the engagement of their daughter, Andrea Grace Weeks, to Clay Russell Tynes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Randall Wayne Tynes of Morgantown.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Albert Acker, Sr. of Greensboro, Alabama and Dr. and Mrs. George Eliot Weeks of Moundville, Alabama.

Laney Meredith Crowned Miss Butler County Fair

Laney Meredith, Kendra Hennion, Sierra Fields, and Erica Rhodes.

On the last night of the Green River Catfish Festival the Miss Butler County Fair pageants were held.  Young ladies ages 8-12 years competed for Miss Pre-Teen, ages 13-15 years competed for Miss Teen, while the 16-21 year olds vied for Miss Butler County Fair. A total of 216  participated in the pageants during the Festival.

GRCF Pageants: 0-23 Months Boys/Girls

 

On Saturday morning boys and girls, 0-23 months, gathered for the Green River Catfish Festival pageants. A large crowd of Moms, Dads, Siblings, Grandmothers, Grandfathers, Aunts and Uncles watched as the little ones competed. The winners were:

Terrapin Race features 152 terrapins, draws large crowd

The 2014 Green River Catfish Festival Terrapin Race featured 12 heat races and a championship round before Ty Griffin and terrapin #4 took home the $100 top prize and trophy.  Riley Turci's terrapin #63 finished second; Zachary Gwathney with terrapin #139 came in third.  The Terrapin Race was held Friday, July 4, at the Charles Black Park in Morgantown.

Thank You from the April Phelps Family

Camp Opportunity With Belmont Church

Chad's Cruise -In Raises $2300 for Boys & Girls Club

Chad Johnson, Bruce White, Timmy Keown and grandchildren.

Chad’s Body Shop and Wrecker Service held their 2nd Annual Cruise-In on Saturday.  Each year Chad picks a charitable organization to receive the proceeds.  This year the Boys & Girls Club of Butler County received over $2300.
