Scout Troop builds and sells birdhouses so they can go camping

With summer camp fast approaching and having hand built 190 genuine cedar bird house Boy Scout Troop 208 in Morgantown took to their efforts to the Kroger in Bowling Green this past Saturday. According to LeAnn Marksberry , grandmother of one the Scouts, “The boys need tents and other equipment so they can camp out like real Scouts and they are doing this to raise funds”.

Class of 1962 Annual Breakfast Meeting

Bobby McPherson, President of the graduating class of 1962, invites all classmates and guest to attend the annual breakfast/luncheon on June 28th at 11:00 AM at the Little Tokyo Restaurant in Morgantown, KY.  This friendly gathering has become a tradition for the classmates and has been enjoyed by all. The restaurant is located on The Rochester Road, Hwy 70 West, at what was the Hillside Inn. Please come enjoy this time together.

BCDAR Genealogy Workshop

Butler Co Daughters of  American Revolution National Society is hosting a Genealogy Workshop, Saturday, May 31,2014, at the Butler Co Library.  Registration begins at 8:45 a.m. Workshop, led by DAR State Registrar Myra Evans, begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. and adjourns at 12:30 p.m.  Anyone interested in learning more about researching their ancestors is welcome to attend this free workshop.  This would be a good time to meet some of the local DAR members, who would be happy to help you in your search.  For more information contact Linda Deweese @270-526-4000.

Butler Co. High School NJROTC Awards Ceremony

On the evening of May 15, 2014 the NJROTC program had our end of the year awards ceremony.  The night began with a prayer from Cadet Chaplain Destiny Phelps, and the national anthem sung by our own Mikayla Brown.  Chief Melton and Major Redmond then proceeded to hand out ribbons to each cadet.  This year we received the unit achievement award, awarded to the top units in the Region.  Many cadets received the Unit service, Exemplary Appearance, and Community service, to name a few.  The Military Officers Association Medal was presented by Lieutenant Colonel Young and awarded to Cadet Ashely
