BCHS Accounting Class Travels to WKU

The Butler County High School Accounting class attended an event at Western Kentucky University on Friday November 1st. Students were addressed by several accounting professionals and covered several topics that were actual "hands-on" accounting applications. Students were also addressed by the Dean of the Gordon Ford College of Business, Dr. Jeff Katz. Dr. Katz encouraged the students to attend WKU and pursue an accounting degree. The field trip was very beneficial for the accounting students who had a chance to see real world applications.

Chapter 8: Outstanding In His Field

“Don’t even think about it, son,” Pa commanded when he saw me getting ready to kill the slithering black snake I had found in the barn. “Leave him alone.”
“You mean we aren’t going to kill him?” I asked, proud I had gathered enough courage to even get close to the creature.
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” Pa said. “Snakes are good for farms. This little guy is a rat snake. He lives here in the barn and eats mice and rats. The snake gets his dinner, and we don’t have rodents.”
“Can I pick him up?” I asked.

Festival of Trees

The Butler County Preservation Education would like to thank all of you who have come to the Festival of Trees over the past six years.  Last year, the Butler County Education Society museum which was to be located in the Butler County Education Complex was put on hold.  The financial shortages being experienced and the need to get in line behind other, more important concerns for the Butler County Board of Education has lead to the disbandment of the BCEPS.  The Festival of Trees has been turned over to the BCNSDAR, knowing they will continue bringing it to the community.  Since many o

HOSA students at Harvest on the Square

Saturday, October 26th was an exciting, fun filled day for Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) students at the Butler Co ATC.  HOSA students participated in Harvest on the Square providing free blood pressure screenings, hypertension education and the promotion of their evening Cystic Fibrosis Event.

Chapter 7: Outstanding In His Field

“Woody, Chloe, come back immediately,” Pa and Lauren screamed. Obeying, we returned to Pa and Farmer Lauren. 
“Oh, doggies,” Pa said, wiping sweat from his brow, “you two sure gave us a scare!”
“I’m sorry,” I said. “We only wanted to introduce ourselves to the dogs in the field.”
“We know,” Farmer Lauren replied. “That’s why we screamed. You took off before we could warn you about the dogs.”
“Warn us? Oh, no! Do those dogs have rabies?” I asked, making Pa laugh.

BC Family Resource Center Host Bike Rodeo for 4th Graders

The 4th grade students at Morgantown Elementary recently took part in a rodeo. But this wasn’t your typical broncs and bulls type of event. On October 30th, the students took part in a bicycle rodeo. The program, funded by Kosair Children’s Hospital and organized by the Butler County Family Resource Center, is presented by Doug Beckhart of Louisville, Ky. Through obstacle courses and other bicycle riding activities, Mr. Beckhart has been teaching bicycle safety for 15 years.

BCHS Students Make All-state Choir

Butler County High School had 6 students make All-state Choir. Last year, only 2 students made it to all-state, Rachel Rose and Dylan Havens.  Jacob Clark, Spencer Coleman, Hannah Renfrow, Mikayla Brown, Alison Kurfiss, and Bailey Hunt are the 6 students that made it this year.
