HS SOCCER: Lady Bears outlast Breckinridge County in overtime, 6-5

HARDINSBURG — Claiming its second straight win, Butler County outlasted Breckinridge County 6-5 in overtime in an 11th District girls' soccer match on Saturday, Sept. 9.

The Butler County High School Girls Soccer team honored their seniors.  

#1 Lacy White

Lacy was escorted by her parents, Derek White and Monique Denison.  Lacy has played soccer for 3 years.  After graduation, Lacy plans on attending Western Kentucky University to major in biology.

MORGANTOWN — Butler County is set to visit Grayson County for its fourth game in the 2023 high school football season on Friday, Sept. 1.

Garrett Phelps on pace to pass for over 1,200 yards

MORGANTOWN — Butler County junior quarterback Garrett Phelps in on pace to pass for over 1,200 yards in the 2023 high school football regular season.

Three games into the 2023 high school football season, Phelps has completed 28 passes for 363 yards and three touchdowns. 

Phelps has completed at least one pass to nine different receivers. 

Contributing on the ground for Butler County, Phelps has rushed 27 times for 86 yards and a team-high four touchdowns.

BCMS Football: Bears square off against Edmonson, Ohio

The Butler County Middle School Bears faced the tough Edmonson County Middle School Wildcats last Tuesday night at Edmonson. It was a defensive ballgame for both teams to say the least. In 7th grade, Jake Sorrels, found the end zone twice for the Bears. With seconds left on the clock, the Bears held the Wildcats on the 10-yard line resulting in a 14-8 win.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Bears falter late, drop game to Warren Central

BOWLING GREEN — Visiting Butler County faltered late as Warren Central battled back from behind to win 40-26 in a non-district high school football game on Friday, Sept. 1. 

Each high school football team took a 1-2 record out of the game. 

Warren Central thrived early, outscoring the Bears 16-13 in the first quarter.

But Butler County battled back, outscoring Warren Central 13-0 in the second period.

Butler County loses district match to Whitesville Trinity 

MORGANTOWN — Butler County was limited offensively as Whitesville Trinity pulled away to win 3-0 in a 12th District volleyball match on Monday, Aug. 28. 

Whitesville Trinity beat Butler County 25-10, 25-8, 25-6.

Soccer: Bears edge Edmonson County in district match, 4-3

MORGANTOWN — Butler County edged visiting Edmonson County 4-3 in an 11th District boys' soccer match on Tuesday, Aug. 29. 
Everson Padilla scored three goals and distributed one assist to lead Butler County to the 11th District win.
