HS FOOTBALL PREVIEW: Bears to visit Grayson County

MORGANTOWN — Butler County is set to visit Grayson County for its fourth game in the 2023 high school football season on Friday, Sept. 1.

The Bears and Cougars are set to meet for a non-district matchup. 

Butler County is 1-2. After winning its season opener, Butler County has suffered back-to-back losses. 

Butler County pulled away to beat Russellville 29-7 in a bowl game at Logan County High School on Friday, Aug. 18.

Dealing Butler County its first loss in the 2023 high school football season, Webster County defeated the Bears 55-28 on Friday, Aug. 25. 

Forcing Butler County to remain in the loss column, Warren Central beat the Bears 40-26 on Friday, Sept. 1. 

The Cougars are 2-1. Kicking off its latest gridiron campaign, Grayson County doubled up Edmonson County 14-7 in the Tobacco Bowl on Friday, Aug. 18.

But Marshall County dealt Grayson County its first loss, outlasting the Cougars 26-20 on Friday, Aug. 25. 

Landing back in the win column, Grayson County pushed past McLean County 27-8 on Friday, Sept. 1. 

Under the direction of Coach Brandon Embry, Butler County has regular season games remaining versus Grayson County, Hart County, Franklin-Simpson, Bethlehem, Adair County, Glasgow and Ohio County. 

Notching a win, Butler County downed Grayson County 35-13 during the 2022 high school football season. 

Kickoff for the upcoming Butler County-Grayson County football game is set for 7 p.m. in Leitchfield.

 

The game will be live on WLBQ.
