Butler County loses district match to Whitesville Trinity 

MORGANTOWN — Butler County was limited offensively as Whitesville Trinity pulled away to win 3-0 in a 12th District volleyball match on Monday, Aug. 28. 

Whitesville Trinity beat Butler County 25-10, 25-8, 25-6. 

Taylor Leach (1 assist, 2 digs), Evana Martin (2 digs), Elivia Heard (1 dig), Miley Franzell (2 kills), Kinsley York (2 kills, 2 digs), Isabella-Marie Kelley (2 digs), Lily Glass (1 kill, 5 digs), Samantha Johnson (6 digs, 3 service aces), Madison Jones (1 dig) and Megan Clark (1 dig) each chipped in for Butler County during the 12th District match. 

Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 0-2 in the 12th District. 

Butler County is scheduled to visit Whitesville Trinity for a 12th District volleyball match on Thursday, Sept. 14. 

Butler County limited in loss to Franklin-Simpson 

FRANKLIN — Butler County was limited as Franklin-Simpson pulled away to win 2-0 in a high school volleyball match on Thursday, Aug. 24.

Franklin-Simpson prevailed 25-4, 25-14 over Butler County in the match. 

Butler County and Franklin-Simpson are non-district rivals. Foes from bordering regions, Butler County and Franklin-Simpson met for the first time in the 2023 high school volleyball season. 

Lily Glass (1 assist, 2 digs, 2 service aces), Samantha Johnson (1 assist, 3 digs, 1 service ace), Kinsley York (2 kills, 2 assists, 5 digs), Taylor Leach (5 digs), Evana Martin (1 kill, 3 digs), Maelynn Bilicki (1 kill), Elivia Heard (1 dig), Madison Jones (3 kills, 1 block, 1 assist, 1 dig) each contributed for Butler County in the non-district match. 

Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 1-4. 

Butler County is scheduled to meet Franklin-Simpson in the Battle in the Barrens at Barren County High School on Saturday, Sept. 9.
