Garrett Phelps on pace to pass for over 1,200 yards

MORGANTOWN — Butler County junior quarterback Garrett Phelps in on pace to pass for over 1,200 yards in the 2023 high school football regular season.

Three games into the 2023 high school football season, Phelps has completed 28 passes for 363 yards and three touchdowns. 

Phelps has completed at least one pass to nine different receivers. 

Contributing on the ground for Butler County, Phelps has rushed 27 times for 86 yards and a team-high four touchdowns. 

Gage Beasley paces Butler County in receiving. Beasley has hauled in 10 receptions for 184 yards and two touchdowns. 

Butler County has rushed 112 times for 402 yards and eight touchdowns.

Beasley leads Butler County in both receiving and rushing. On the ground, Beasley has rushed 19 times for 104 yards and one touchdown.

Behind Beasley in Butler County's rushing attack, Lonnie Phelps has rushed 22 times for 94 yards and one touchdown.

Another Butler County running back, Trevor Joiner, has rushed 30 times for 81 yards and two touchdowns. 

Averaging 30 points per game, Beasley leads Butler County in scoring. 

Defensively, Beasley (21 tackles, two interceptions), Lonnie Phelps (23 tackles) and Dillon Hudnall (21 tackles) are combining to lead the Bears.

Butler County (1-2) is scheduled to visit Grayson County (2-1) on Friday, Sept. 8.
