Butler hired as new baseball coach

A familiar face will be in the dugout in the spring of 2017 for the Butler County High School baseball team.  Keith Butler, 27, has been named head baseball coach at Butler County.  That announcement was made last week by Butler County High School Athletics' Director Brandon Embry.  Butler will take over for Ben Grey, who was not rehired after the 2016 season.  Grey's Bears finished with a 14-23 season record and won the 12th District Tournament, before falling to Apollo in regional play.

Keith Butler, who was a standout baseball player for Butler County, played baseball at Wabash Valley College and was later signed by the St. Louis Cardinals' organization as a 24th round selection in the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft.  His MLB debut was on June 1, 2013, for the Cardinals.

Butler worked as an assistant coach under Grey during the 2016 season.  As a player, Butler's number has been retired at BCHS.
