Football season just around the corner

Both the Butler County High School and Butler County Middle School football teams are wrapping up a summer full of practices and are now taking to the field for game action.

The BCHS Bears, under the direction of first-year Head Coach Brandon Embry, travelled to Breckinridge County on Saturday for a preseason controlled scrimmage and will have another one at Caldwell County on Friday, August 10. The Bears are coming off a week-long team camp at Camp Loucon.

Coach Embry said both Camp Loucon and the Breck scrimmage went well.

“We did a lot of good things but still have some stuff to clean up,” said Embry.

Earlier this year, the team participated in 7-on-7 passing leagues at Ohio County and Russellville, and a 7-on-7 passing tournament at South Laurel High School.

Also, football media day is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 9.

The Butler County Middle School Bears’ football team was in action on Saturday in the Dragon Bowl (Warren Central Jamboree). The Bears 8th grade team lost 6-0 to Drakes Creek; the 7th grade team lost 12-6 to Drakes.

Elijah Flener is the head coach.
