MPD: Drug Arrest

On Monday, June 27, at about 1:00 AM, officers with the Morgantown Police Department were investigating a suspicious person on Sawmill Road. As a result of the investigation, Eric Jason Anderson is charged with:

1) Possession of Controlled Sub 1st deg, 1st Off (Methamphetamine)

2) Tampering With Physical Evidence

June 23, 2022 (Bowling Green, Ky.) While higher bills can be expected during summer heat waves, BGMU and Warren RECC customers should be aware of another factor affecting their bills this summer. On July 1, TVA’s Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA) will nearly double, costing roughly 2 cents per kilowatt hour more than last July. Families who use 1,000 kilowatts per month will see an average increase of $20 compared to July of last year. If you consume more than average amounts of energy, the increase will be higher; if you consume less than average, the increase will be less.

Kirby arrested for assault, victim in critical condition

On June 24, members of the Morgantown Police Department responded to a call at Valhalla Village Trailer Park for a victim who had been attacked and found unconscious. Joseph Lee Kirby, 41 was arrested and charged with Assault, 1st Degree, and Tampering with Physical Evidence through the investigation.

Joseph Kirby is lodged in the Butler County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.

Busy Weekend Ahead as Green River Catfish Festival Festivities Continue

Festivities for the 39th Annual Catfish Festival began last weekend with Green River Road Race. This weekend will be another busy one with the Tackle the Green Fishing Tournament which will take place from 6:00am to 6:00pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 24-26. Featuring $50,000 in tagged fish, the tournament will also have daily prizes, sponsored by Camping World of Bowling Green.

Magistrates OK funds for G.R. Museum & litter abatement; Cardwell named to library board; road removed from county maintenance

Magistrates quickly worked through a relatively simple agenda on Monday, June 13, approving several items along the way. All magistrates, as well as Judge/Executive Tim Flener, were present.

MPD Drug Arrest

On June 15, 2022, officers with the Morgantown Police Department responded to the Dollar General Market in reference to an individual with an active warrant. Through the investigation, Russell E. Scott age 54 of Leitchfield KY was charged with Possession Controlled Substance 1st Deg 1st Off (Drug Unspecified) and Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess. Russell was also served with a warrant from Butler County for a probation violation.

Russell was lodged in the Butler County Jail.

AAA: Children and Pets in Vehicles at Risk During Extreme Heat

When cars heat up, every minute counts

As the current heat wave continues and temperatures near 100 degrees are predicted through the end of the week, AAA East Central is reminding motorists about the dangers of leaving children and pets in a hot car. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 900 children have died of heat stroke in the last 25 years after being left or trapped in a vehicle. In just 10 minutes, the temperature inside a vehicle can heat up by 20 degrees and become deadly.
