Morgantown City Council: Reports presented, plans discussed for city in 2023

The January 12 meeting of the Morgantown City Council was a busy one. With Mayor Billy Phelps’ State of the City Address, numerous city board members present and a newly-elected council member, it was a packed night. BC SCHOOLS: New board members sworn in; 2023-24 school calendar approved

Asst. Supt. Josh Belcher swears in new board members.

The Butler County Board of Education met in special session on Tuesday, January 24,  with board members Amy Hood, Delbert Johnson, Debbie Hammers and Rich Ellis present. Ryan Daugherty was  not present.

2022 Recycling and Solid Waste Report

The Recycling Center made 3,911 runs and processed the recyclable materials: newsprint, white paper, books, aluminum, steel, cardboard, and other metals.

The Center logged 1,572 volunteer labor hours, used as in-kind contributions for grants.

Staff kept up routine maintenance on the building and all equipment throughout the year with help from the County Road Department.

The Recycling Center sold $13,317.98 of recycled materials in 2022.

The Center has an inventory of approximately 143,000 pounds of recyclable materials to be sold.
