Butler County Schools cancel in-person classes for Wednesday, Feb. 1; NTI Day #2 scheduled

UPDATED POST: With a second wave of wintry weather and the potential for ice accumulation and slick roadways, Butler County Schools have cancelled in-person classes for Wednesday, February 1. The day will be used for non-traditional instruction (NTI). Teacher and school administrators will be available via e-mail, Google Classroom and other communications arranged by schools between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The National Weather Service this afternoon issued a winter weather advisory for roughly the southern two-thirds of Kentucky, west to east from the Mississippi River to the Big Sandy.

Forecasters said to expect light freezing rain and freezing drizzle, with light snow possible, this evening into early Wednesday. Snow accumulation is expected to be less than 1 inch but could be coupled with a glaze of ice.

With a winter weather advisory in effect for much of the area, Butler County Schools have canceled in-person classes for tomorrow, Tuesday, January 31.  

The day will be used for non-traditional instruction (NTI).

According to school officials, teachers and school administrators will be available from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. via e-mail, Google Classroom, and other communications arranged by schools.  

All school athletic games scheduled for tonight, Monday, have also been canceled.
