Radio Auction Nets $8,500 for Boys & Girls Club

More Members, More Often Award

The Annual Boys & Girls Club Radio auction raised $8,500 for the club on Saturday.  The auction was hosted by Morgantown Bank & Trust and WLBQ 1570 Beech Tree Radio.

“We are very pleased with the auction and I want to thank everyone involved and the people that called in to bid,” said Debra Hall, Club Director. “The money will support the day to day operations of the Club.”

Hall also announced that the Butler County Boys & Girls Club received good news recently.  First, the Club won an award for an “Increase in Attendance” more members, more often.  According to Hall they average serving 102 kids daily.

The Club also received 50 vouchers from Payless Shoes.  Hall applied for the grant and now 50 kids will make the trip to Payless Shoes in Bowling Green for a new pair of shoes.

“Amy Southerland will be overseeing a $1500 Triple Play grant for the Club,” said Hall.

Triple Play is a leadership club that focuses on fitness and planning a community fitness awareness event.

The Boys & Girls Club will be hosting a ribbon cutting event on Friday, December 14, 2012, at the Antique Shop on Hwy 231, Bowling Green Road. The shop was donated to the Club by J. Marshall Hughes and has been totally renovated.  Everyone is invited to the ribbon cutting.
