KY Colonels Awarding $1.5 Million Happy Feet = Learning Feet Receiving Grant= BC Students Receiving Shoes

 October 2017 - Morganfield, KY – Happy Feet Equals Learning Feet, Inc. with headquarters located in Morganfield recently received a grant from the Kentucky Colonels in the amount of $19,200.00 to purchase 600 pairs of high quality shoes for needy students in Christian County, Simpson County, and Butler County.  Butler and Simpson counties are receiving 100 pairs each and Christian County is receiving 400 pairs.     Happy Feet Equals Learning Feet, Inc.

Butler County Chapter NSDAR Honors their 2017 Veteran of the Year

 It is once again that time of year when we take time out to celebrate the service of the many men and women who have served valiantly in our military, our veterans. The Butler County Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will sponsor its annual Veterans' Breakfast on Saturday, November 11 at 9:00 a.m. in the Butler County High School Commons Area.

New county treasurer on the job; fire board set up for First District

The Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on October 23rd at the Butler County Courthouse.  All magistrates were in attendance: Stevie Givens-First District,  Johnny Tuck-Second District, Chad Tyree-Third District, David Whittinghill-Fourth District, and Bobby Moore-Fifth District.
Butler County has a new treasurer, Becky Jacobs who was sworn in by Butler County Judge-Executive David Fields.  Jacobs replaces Susan Johnson, who retired.

Butler County Rural Development Celebrates 60 Years

The Butler County Rural Development Clubs hosted their 60th annual meeting on Saturday night at the Eva Hawes Agricultural Expo and Community Building.  Several gathered to celebrate the Rural Development Clubs.  Butler County is the only county in the state of Kentucky to have Rural Development Clubs, at one time Butler County was home to 12 clubs.  There are currently five Clubs in Butler County: Big Bend, Provo, Little Muddy, Reedyville, and Gilstrap. Gilstrap Rural Development was recently rejuvenated.

Burglary Suspect Identified, Wanted By Police

The Edmonson County Sheriff's Office has announced that the suspect in last week's alleged burglary attempts from a woman armed with a shotgun with two children has been identified and is wanted by police.

Officials said they now have active arrest warrants for Ms. Jennifer Sheperd, 32, of Roundhill (Butler Co.), KY, for an armed home invasion that took place on October 14, 2017 on Big Reedy Road in Edmonson County.

South Central Workforce Development Board Announces New Partnership Growing Career Resource Extends Reach and Adds Job Support Location

Bowling Green, KY: The South Central Workforce Development Board is proud to announce a new partnership with Butler County Adult Education as SCWDB’s newest affiliate site. As a partner affiliate site, Butler County Adult Education, located at 178 Academic Way, Ste. 100, Morgantown, KY 42261, will offer computer access for job search, provide job announcement releases for the region, occasionally host SCWDB job preparation workshops, and will provide limited assistance for resume writing.

BC Drug -Free Coalition's Sticker Shock Campaign

The Butler County Drug-Free Coalition participated the Sticker Shock campaign which brings awareness towards underage drinking, one of the four priorities of the BC Drug-Free. The stickers were placed on the products throughout the stores as “warning” labels to inform the public of the consequences they can face if they provide or purchase alcohol for minors.  The message comes in loud and clear when minors are the ones spreading the word and taking action. Parents, older siblings, older friends, etc.

Morgantown- Butler County Tourism Commission Releases Video

The Morgantown- Butler County Tourism Commission is proud to release our first video promoting Morgantown and Butler County.  The funding was made possible by the transient tax paid by guests at our local lodging facilities, Morgantown Inn, Green River Lodge, and the Woodbury Lodge.
