Gary earns Degree, becomes State Licensed, and National Certified

Micheal B. Gary has an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Funeral Service and Mortuary, became licensed to practice embalming in the state of Kentucky and also earned his National Board Certification.

Michael B. Gary Jr. graduated from Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham, AL, with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Funeral Service and Mortuary Science in December of 2015. Gary took his state board exam in Louisville, KY and became licensed to practice embalming in the state of Kentucky in March of 2016. In addition to being state licensed, Gary also earned his National Board Certification in December of 2015.

Green River Museum opens for 2016 season

Woodbury's Green River Museum celebrated the opening of the 2016 season Saturday.

Butler County's rich traditions of arts and music were on full display Saturday outside of the Green River Museum in Woodbury. Artisans, basket makers, wood craftsmen, musicians, history buffs, Butler County residents and others filled the grounds at 4353 Woodbury Loop Saturday as the museum in Woodbury opened for the 2016 season. 

Butler County Relay For Life holds first Color Run

Runners and walkers of all ages returned from the 5k Run/Walk with newly created colorful splotches on their t-shirts. The Butler County Relay For Life held their first 5K Color Run/Walk Saturday. 

The course started and ended at Morgantown Elementary, meandering through downtown Morgantown. 

Reaction to St. Catharine closing: shock, devastation

Southcentral Kentuckians who had ties to St. Catharine College are reacting with shock and sadness after the small Catholic school in Springfield announced this week that it will soon close permanently.

Morgantown Care & Rehab sponsors Chamber Luncheon.

Amy Phelps, Morgantown Care & Rehab Administrator

Morgantown Care & Rehabilitation Center (MCRC) sponsored the Morgantown-Butler County Chamber's monthly luncheon.  MCRC is owned by Signature Health Care.
Amy Phelps, the administrator of MCRC, presented the program along with Jamie Howard, Admission Director, and Chaplin Derek Cain.
"Our vision is to radically change the landscape of Health Care forever.  Everybody, including me, completes Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training so we can better serve our residents. MCRC is the home to 122 residents right here in your community," said Phelps.

Memorial Day Program Honors Those That Served

While some Butler Countians enjoyed a day off work on May 30 and used the time to relax or spend time with family and friends, others gathered on the courthouse lawn at 11:00 to honor fallen service men and women during the annual Memorial Day service.  The Green River Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution planned and hosted this year’s event.
