Deweese hits the Green River again, this time for a rescue.

The Green River seems to be calling Jonathan Deweese’s name. A local fisherman was rescued from a potentially deadly situation on Tuesday morning near the boat ramp at Woodbury.

Workers from the Butler County Road Crew were working on the site of the new upriver boat ramp at Leonard Oak. Workers saw a boat drifting down Green River which appeared to be abandoned. After a closer look the crew realized that there was a fisherman in the water behind the boat clinging to the outboard motor.

Cox Sworn In As Deputy

Judge Fields, Deputy Ronald Cox and Butler Co. Sheriff Scottie Ward

Butler County Sheriff Scottie Ward looked on as Butler County Judge Executive David Fields administrated the oath of office to a new deputy.  Ronald Cox, 26, of Morgantown has joined the Butler County Sheriff's Department.  Cox served in law enforcement in Clarksville, Tennesse and has also served two tours in the United States Army. 
Cox will attend the academy in Richmond starting October 17th.

(Bowling Green, KY)-  The operator of the Kia passenger car, 32 year old Jonathan McDaniel, succumbed to his injuries he sustained in today's collision and was pronounced dead at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.

Board of Education approves MES archery team trip in special session

The Butler County Board of Education met in special session Saturday morning.

The Butler County Board of Education met in special session Saturday morning at the Butler County Education Complex, approving a request for the Morgantown Archery team to attend the NASP World Tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Graves Gilbert Clinic is pleased to announce that Ashley Norris, D.O. is joining Phillip Bale, M.D. and William Travis, M.D. at our Glasgow office.

A native of Morgantown, KY, Dr. Norris earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Western Kentucky University and graduated in the top ten of her class as a Doctor of Osteopathy at Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine.

She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Family Physicians, and brings to Graves Gilbert Clinic a passion for patient care and critical thinking.

Talon Chase Gary, the son of Mark and Missy Jones Gary and grandson of Gerald and Jan Jones and Charles B. and Juanita Gary joined the family business on March 1, 2016 and signed up to serve his apprenticeship through the Kentucky State Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, in Louisville, Ky. Talon will be a 3rd generation Funeral Director and Embalmer following in the footsteps of his grandparents, Gerald and Jan Jones, who were also the founders of The Jones Funeral Chapel in 1979.

Little Muddy Community to receive a historical marker.

The Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) will dedicate a new historical marker in Butler County on May 1 at 1:30 p.m. CDT. It will be located at the intersection of Little Muddy Church Road and Highway 231, about eight miles south of Morgantown.

Butler County Grand Jury Indictments

The Butler County Grand Jury returned indictments against 22 individuals on April 12, 2015. Charges include possession of controlled substance, flagrant non-support, drug trafficking, theft, forged prescriptions, and manufacturing methamphetamine. Arraignment has been set for May 10, 2016, for all individuals.
