BC Drug -Free Coalition's Sticker Shock Campaign

Meredith's Discount Liquors

The Butler County Drug-Free Coalition participated the Sticker Shock campaign which brings awareness towards underage drinking, one of the four priorities of the BC Drug-Free. The stickers were placed on the products throughout the stores as “warning” labels to inform the public of the consequences they can face if they provide or purchase alcohol for minors.  The message comes in loud and clear when minors are the ones spreading the word and taking action. Parents, older siblings, older friends, etc. are often unaware that they can get into trouble along with the individual that is not of age. Underage drinking is a serious issue and can be harmful to the individual.

Students from Butler County High School, Butler County Sheriff's Deputy Joe Alford, along with Rhonda Vaughn and Ali Johnson visited locations in the City of Morgantown that sell alcohol.
According to National statistics,  adults who had their first drink prior to the age of 15 were seven times more likely to experience alcohol problems than those who had not started drinking before the age of 21.

"We are proud to have joined with the Butler County High School, Sheriff's Office, and community to support the Butler County Drug-Free program! Another way to let our community and youth know that sales to minors will not be tolerated. We ID all individuals to help prevent any occurrence of this happening. Be a responsible Adult," said Todd Meredith owner of Meredith's Discount Liquors.

Hood's Market

The following businesses participated in the Campaign: Hood's Market, Garcia's, Meredith's Discount Liquors, and  Jumping Jack's.
According to Vaughn IGA said corporate said no and Dollar Market said no today and is waiting for a response from their corporate office.
