A series of events this morning in north Butler County has area law enforcement agencies in search of two suspects.

Police are searching for Robert Carter and Johnny Haynes - both white males from Grayson County.  They are believed to be driving a 2007 black Chevy pickup and are considered to be armed and dangerous.

According to Butler County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Heath West, a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup was stolen from the home of Todd Leach on Grancer Road at approximately 5:45 a.m. this morning.  Leach had started his truck to warm it up and it was apparently stolen shortly thereafter.

While in route to investigate the possible vehicle theft, Deputy West received a call of a possible wreck on Grancer Road.  Further investigation revealed that it wasn't a wreck but rather was a stolen Ford F250 with Grayson County plates that had run out of gas.

As a result of continued investigation, law enforcement officers believe there may be a connection between the two stolen vehicles that ended up on Grancer Road.  Meanwhile, multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating whether or not the incidents involving these vehicles are connected to an armed robbery at Fordsville Bank and a possible homicide in Caneyville.

As a precaution, North Butler Elementary went into lock-out mode for short time this morning.  All students are safe but no students are being allowed outside the building and visitors were not being allowed into the school.  A Butler County Sheriff's Department Deputy is at the school.  The lock-out mode for North Butler was lifted at approximately 11:40 a.m.  Principal Josh Belcher has maintained communication with parents informing them of the situation through the school's one-call system.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
